Supporting young people starts now

Encouraging young people into fulfilling careers is at the heart of our project.

Once completed the Dockyard Church Enterprise Hub will provide a pioneering new facility to support young adults to develop and sustain their businesses; from school leavers’ support and training, to providing premises, business mentoring and career development initiatives for young entrepreneurs.

Our future professionals

SDPT and our contractor’s commitment to developing future professionals has already begun through several successful work-based apprenticeships, you can find out more about four of the young people working on the project here and we will be adding more career stories over the coming months.

Our four apprentices, a trainee Architect, Carpenter, Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor may look familiar as they also feature centre-stage on our new site hoardings.

They are all really enjoying working on the project which has presented them with an exciting opportunity to be involved from the start, on a unique restoration project, working with some of the country’s leading specialist companies and receiving on the job expert training from highly skilled professionals.

“It’s brilliant to be able to work with such experienced people who are willing to give me a chance. To have a project like this in my home town is just amazing.”
