Discovered fragment foretells fate of burned Church
A remarkable charred fragment of church history has been discovered in a floor vent by the Coniston team at the site as they carefully cleared the area ready for work to commence. The remains of this fragile hymn or prayer book also features an intriguing last line! Was it from the 1881 or the 2001 fire?
‘…HOLY Spirit, Lord of grace, Eternal source of love,
Inflame, we pray, our inmost hearts
With fire from heaven above.’
The discovery was bought to our attention whilst onsite recently to plan our hoarding designs with members of the Coniston and Lavastar teams accompanied by our designers from Spire Studio. Great to be able to take a look inside the the building again for some inspiration before the official work starts.
